TOTAL QUALITY, CULTURE CHANGE and FACILITATION

Why Total Quality ?

" Survival is not compulsory " Dr. W Edwards Deming

Most of the larger organisations in the western world are now beginning to embrace the ideas behind Total Quality. They are going down this route because of the potential benefits.

QUALITY AND COST BENEFITS

•Improved quality of product for the customer.

•Financial savings achieved through prevention rather than inspection and rejection.

QUALITY AND BUSINESS BENEFITS

•Continuous improvement.

•Teamwork instead of "them and us".

•"Customer First"

•Suppliers included as part of the team and as part of the process of improvement

COMPARISON BETWEEN TOTAL QUALITY (TQ) AND QUALITY ASSURANCE (QA)

Because of similarity of name and aims there is a tendency to confuse Total Quality with Quality Assurance. QA is, however, only a part of Total Quality as this diagram indicates. Total Quality takes a much broader view of the way organisations operate and make critical decisions.
